Guthrie Trio

Guthrie Trio

Guthrie Trio are a Blues inspired West Australia Reggae, Roots & Rock band, featuring Darren Guthrie on Lead Vocals & Guitar, Max Carter on Drums & Percussion, and Spyro Vasilakis on Bass.

Guthrie Trio formed in early 2015 after Guthrie had been performing Solo (since 2010) and was eager to create his first debut album. Guthrie called upon friends Max Carter & Jase Le Scelle to join him in the studio to help create a full sounding album release together. In 2016 the boys launched their debut album “Seeds of Change” and toured the release locally. Having enjoyed performing together & the energy they all created, the boys decided to form Guthrie Trio and continue performing together.

Soon after this, Guthrie embarked on his first Solo National Tour taking “Seeds of Change” on the road, performing a main stage slot at Nimbin MardiGrass Protestival to over 15 thousand people in attendance at the festival. Since 2016 Guthrie has performed across the nation in various formats (Solo, Duo & Trio) and has been on festival lineups including: Kinetic Dreaming Music Festival, Bob Marley Annual Outernational, WAMFest, Gidgestock, Nimbin MardiGrass, Mandurah Channel 7 Crabfest, Musical Fruits Festival, Railway Reggae & Roots Fest, Chronicfest, and Rumfest - Rum Ribs & Reggae. Guthrie has also supported acclaimed acts including The Original Wailers, DownSyde, Georgi Kay, Dann Webb & Matt Gresham.

In 2019 the Trio’s original bassist Jase Le Scelle took a break from the band to spend time with his family. Soon after, bass guitarist Spyro Vasilakis joined the Trio bringing his Rock and Funk influence influence into the bands bass grooves.

In Late 2019 the Guthrie Trio started recording their next release between the John Butler Studio in Fairbridge & Sativa Sounds in Rockingham.
This year Guthrie Trio are excited to announce the release of “Fresh Ground”, a five track EP composed by Darren Guthrie featuring a variety of easy listening tunes with heartfelt messages.

The Trio’s new material consists of an eclectic mix of danceable rhythms, warm bass grooves and cut through lead hooks from guitar, vocals and other instruments/artists. Fresh Ground is set for launch at the Ravenswood Hotel on April 3rd from 6.30pm supported by The Milkmen. Fresh Ground EP available via the website from 4/4/20
